Blame Rock Phish for it
According to Computerworld, we can blame Rock Phish for the steady rise in phishinglinks over time:
"Security experts estimated that Rock Phish is responsible for between one-third and one-half of all phishing messages being sent out on any given day. "They are probably the most active group of phishers in the world," said Dan Hubbard, senior director, security and technology research with Websense."
Rock Phish group is indeed the pioneer of spam and phishing. Experts gather Rock Phish is responsible for image spam as well as fooling new browser phishing filters by using unique URLs.

To this date no one knows who in fact Rock Phish are. Researchers presume that the organization, targeting mainly European and US financial institutions, has earned over $100 million.

According to this, Rock Phish has a lot of luck, for operating year after year without being tracked down and brought to justice. This article is the perfect 'believe it or not', as well as a good reminder to all of us that crime does pay off.
