Half price Vista is a scam
Filed in archive Spam News on December 21, 2006
I have recently received quite a few spams offering me the opportunity to buy Windows Vista Ultimate edition for half the price it should have once it hits the stores. Less suspicious e-mail readers must have thought they have scored some sweet deal, but the harsh reality is: there is no Vista for half a price.
Sydney Morning Herald reports:
Those who fall for the scam could have their credit card details stolen or, at best, end up with a pirated version of the operating system, said Paul Ducklin, head of technology at security firm Sophos.
I would say that's quite pricey for a pirated copy.
Anyhoo, as with Viagra, diet pills and all other too-good-to-be-true e-mail offers: It is too good to be true.

Those who fall for the scam could have their credit card details stolen or, at best, end up with a pirated version of the operating system, said Paul Ducklin, head of technology at security firm Sophos.
