Mafia is getting into spamming
Mobsters, whether Russian, Italian, Japanese or Yugoslav have always known where the money is, and how to get the most of it with as sleazy conduct as possible. Be it alcohol during prohibition, drugs, prostitutes, trafficking people - you name it they have their fingers on it.

Today's mobsters are turning their attention to another big honey pot, wanting a slice of it. Although Russian mobsters, for one, already have their fingers in the ever-growing spam market, only with stricter legislation prohibiting spam will the mafia really get into it. The Register warns:
"If you have a profitable, illegal business sooner or later you will pay taxes to the Mafia," said Kaspersky. "We're seeing a joining of the virus, hacker and spam scenes under the aegis of organized crime."
Kaspersky reckons that if organized criminals take control of spamming then there might actually be fewer spammers and virus writers in operation. However, attacks, when they did happen, could be even more ferocious."

There you have it. Could spamming get more profitable than selling drugs? In a way I hope it will, it could mean that fewer people will sell drugs. Fat chance, I hear you saying.
