Porn spam is no longer in
Do you even remember those spam emails urging you to visit the 'adult' website with 'special' content? It seems spammers no longer push porn, they are busy advertising drugs, stocks and real-estate.
As SC Magazine's Fiona Raisbeck and Frank Washkuch Jr. report, only 3% of all spam is adult content:
"The report revealed that only three percent of all spam collected last month could be classified as adult material. This included pornography, personal advertisements and relationship advice, as well as other messages containing or referring to products or services for people over the age of 18.
Emails offering health-related products and general goods and services both shared the top ranking spam category with 24 percent of unwanted email. Of all spam, 21 percent was related to financial products, 15 percent offered internet services and three percent were phishing scams, according to Symantec."
It makes me wonder: if spammers are trying to hit the nerve with the ordinary Joe, does that mean he is no longer interested in women, but seeks only weight loss pills and fishy stock advice? Or has the porn industry become less keen on spamvertising?
It makes me laugh that in the age of image spam those evildoers use it to pass on – text.
Really? I get tons of spam from adult sites. I think half my spam is from drug companies and the other half are from adult web sites. I must be getting that whole 3% they mentioned.

You’re welcome. Since I use Gmail I don’t see most of it but when I’m scanning through to make sure something important didn’t accidently get sent to the spam filter I see it, lots of it.
