Protecting your e-mail by URLing it

Protecting your e-mail by URLing it

If you have to display your e-mail address on your website or blog, than you must be freaking out from the amount of spam you're getting. But, do not fear! Instead of thinking of different ways to make your mail unreadable to web-bots (specially crafted applications that lurk for e-mail addresses on the Internet), you can hide it in two easy steps. Visit one of the sites I list here and keep spammers at bay!

The first one is SpamFreeze, which will give you a URL to display instead of your e-mail.

"When a user clicks on the link to your email, they will need to identify a word jumbled within an image to verify they are not actually a spider collecting email addresses. After doing so, they will be provided with your email address."

The second spammer diverting tool is the handy TinyMailTo:

"You can use a tinymailto URL to put it in public places, like web pages, forum/e-mail signatures, etc. If someone wants to get your e-mail address, the person must pass a CAPTCHA test in order to view and use your e-mail address."

Yes! This is officially the end of writing your e-mail inserting _REMOVE_, _SPAMMER_GO_AWAY_ and other words, or writing it with spaces. Glad aren't you?

  1. Oh yes…those wonderful “remove … to reply”. I once came across one which really made me laugh: “Remove CLOTHES to reply” ;-) )

  2. Thanks for your comment FlatLizard. Yes, we do get kinky and funny sometimes when dealing with spammers, don’t we? You know what they say, if you can’t beat them…
