Spammers do it for the money

Chris Hogben made me think, ore better yet rethink why I hate spammers so much. In his article Can SPAM really secure your future? he talks about a spammer he met, and the reasons why someone should take up such a devious profession.
As it turned out, Mr. X (the spammer), does it for money, what else? He said he warns about $1500 a month, with spam-bots doing all of his job while he sleeps, eats, goes out and otherwise enjoys his 'hard earned' money. Worse yet, and totally incomprehensible to us normal people, Mr. X does not see anything bad about his job:
"X doesn't see what he does as a problem. He considers it a way of life, a way to earn a living. I asked him what he felt about the people he was sending to.
"So what? You have a couple e-mails you gotta delete. That helps somebody pay Rent."
Asked if he too received spam, he admitted he did. I asked him how he felt about that.
"I just delete it. It's usually about 10 e-mails a day. It's like traffic, no use in getting angry over it. It won't change anything."
As I see it, we all have a choice in our lives. My choice is to do my honest job and fight whenever I can against the menaces that plague our society. I think each of us can make a difference, what do you think?
