The new image of spam
Filed in archive Spam News on April 18, 2007
By now you must have gotten used to image spam and all the unsolicited advertising it brings. But it seems that spammers have resorted to old (but successful) tactics of sending photos of naked celebrities to fool users into clicking - on the image.
The SC magazine reports:
"The tactic differs from previous spamming campaigns this year, which relied on worms to send malicious payloads as part of executable attachments.
"It's pretty sophisticated stuff," Eckelberry said of the new spam scam. "It's heavily obfuscated JavaScript code that takes you to a number of different sites."
My best advise would be to never click on an image of a naked lady, be it Britney Spears, Jenna jameson or Paris Hilton.
